2 KMnO4 (aq) + 3 C2H2O4 (aq) → 3 H2O (l) + 5 CO2 (g) + 2 MnO2 (s) + K2CO3 (aq)
This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:
2 MnVII + 6 e- → 2 MnIV (reduction)
6 CIII - 6 e- → 6 CIV (oxidation)
KMnO4 is an oxidizing agent, C2H2O4 is a reducing agent.
This is a precipitation reaction: MnO2 is the formed precipitate.
This is a gas evolution reaction, CO2 is the formed gas.
