Fe2O3 + 2 C → 2 Fe + C2O3
This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:
2 C0 - 6 e- → 2 CIII (oxidation)
2 FeIII + 6 e- → 2 Fe0 (reduction)
C is a reducing agent, Fe2O3 is an oxidizing agent.
- Fe2O3 – Iron(III) oxide
