NaHCO3 (aq) + HNO3 (aq) → NaNO3 (aq) + CO2 (g) + H2O (l)
This is an acid-base reaction (neutralization): NaHCO3 is a base, HNO3 is an acid.
This is a gas evolution reaction, CO2 is the formed gas.
Reactants:
- NaHCO3 – Sodium hydrogen carbonate
- HNO3 – Nitric acid
- Other names: Aqua fortis , Spirit of niter , Eau forte
