Na2Cr2O7 + 6 FeCl2 + 14 HCl → 2 CrCl3 + 6 FeCl3 + 2 NaCl + 7 H2O
This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:
2 CrVI + 6 e- → 2 CrIII (reduction)
6 FeII - 6 e- → 6 FeIII (oxidation)
Na2Cr2O7 is an oxidizing agent, FeCl2 is a reducing agent.
Reactants:
- Na2Cr2O7 – Sodium dichromate
