2 KBr (aq) + 2 KMnO4 (aq) + 8 HCl (aq) → 4 H2O2 (aq) + 2 MnCl2 (aq) + 4 KCl (aq) + Br2 (aq)
This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:
2 Br-I - 2 e- → 2 Br0 (oxidation)
2 MnVII + 10 e- → 2 MnII (reduction)
8 O-II - 8 e- → 8 O-I (oxidation)
KBr is a reducing agent, KMnO4 is an oxidizing agent, KMnO4 is a reducing agent.
