5 K2SO3 (aq) + 2 KMnO4 (aq) + 6 HCl (aq) → 5 K2SO4 (aq) + 2 MnCl2 (aq) + 2 KCl (aq) + 3 H2O (l)
This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:
2 MnVII + 10 e- → 2 MnII (reduction)
5 SIV - 10 e- → 5 SVI (oxidation)
KMnO4 is an oxidizing agent, K2SO3 is a reducing agent.
